Buttons and more ...

I finished my black and white boucle skirt yesterday. It's a very old New Look pattern that I bought at the op shop easily 8 years ago. It has three styles, including an inverted box pleat, or this one, which has 6 gores. There are no darts, the back and front side gores have gentle curves that make this sit perfectly. There are about 8 sizes in the envelope as as this was pre-loved, someone had cut them all out, which meant that when I cut this out earlier in the year I managed to cut the waistband from a size smaller than I actually needed.
So I improvised by sewing a black tab and button on the inside. Not the greatest fix, but at least it's wearable. This is See the World in Black and White boucle from Gorgeous fabrics and there is still a jacket to come. I made a sheath from the same fabric for my SWAP.
Today I bought some buttons for my coat. The left one is the one I wanted, a large concave matte black button. The second one I bought just because it was interesting, even though I am sure I will stick with my original plan. The bound buttonhole will be black faux leather and the inside collar stand is black faux leather. Still not sure about the tabs on the sleeves.
Here's a close up of the second button. It's clear resin with lace set into it. I'm not sure what I'll do with it, but the right project will present itself in the fullness of time.

The skirt looks great. And that button looks lovely. I can see it on a simple, stylish jacket or coat, I think it could be gorgeous!

That fab skirt looks like a wardrobe staple to me.
I love the buttons, that coat button is a monster! The lace button looks like a gorgeous brooch, what a great button.
I can see why you were drawn to the lace button, but I think you're right the black one is the one. Nice skirt!
Hi Carol. I love the black and white theme you've got going. Okay the plain button is okay, but I'm loving the lace button. But that's just me, I love a touch of fou-fou. LOL

Where did you find that gorgeous lace button?

Your skirt looks like a great staple for your wardrobe and the plain black button on your coat is very stylish. Can't wait to see it with the bound buttonholes in faux leather.

Good choice with the coat button. I like your philosophy towards button-buying.
