Happy New Year!

It's been a while since I've posted. I've been busy. 2010 ended in a flurry of activity and 2011 is starting out the same way. Too much to do in too little time.

So that's why I've added to it and joined the Vintage Sewalong, see the button to the right. I'm making a dress from 1965, Simplicity 6218 in a red burn-out cotton.



In addition to this, I have joined SWAP 2011 and committed to the usual 11 garments Here is the pile of fabric I pulled from my stash as inspiration. Some of this has already been cut out and may or may not make it into my SWAP, as I have no real plan as yet. I have ordered more fabric and I have more than enough garments planned, so it remains to be seen which ones end up in the collection and indeed, which version I am making. I haven't even decided on whether to do all separates, mostly dresses or a mix. I guess my plan is that I have no plan. We'll see how that turns out.
In the meantime, Happy New Year to you all.

Love your choice of the vintage pattern and just love your SWAP fabrics and can't wait to see what you come up with.

So how did the travel wardrobe work out?

Happy New Year Carol, I hope you had a good trip - I am assuming the travel wardrobe was for travel! Did you bring back fabric?

Flooded in again ...

In an unseasonal downpour I find myself flooded in. You would think I would be sewing but, no, I'm not. I spent several hours watching episodes of Jeeves and Wooster on DVD before finally coercing Grant into taking his SWAP pictures, which will be seen in the fullness of time. I did, however, sew last weekend although only one garment as we had a family lunch on Sunday that took over my day. To wear to that lunch I made this dress. It's my TNT sheath based on Vogue 8146. I squeezed this out of a generous yard and as you can see from the picture, there was very little fabric left. I have many things cut out and I will be doing some more sewing later in the week but today I don't have the focus for it. Popping up

I've been busy. Too much going on. My energy is limited and my mojo almost non existent. I have made a few things, but nothing really very exciting. These jeans are from the free Burda style Anita jeans pattern that I make every time. Somehow I managed to erase all the other pictures I took and this is the only one left on the camera. Of course, I managed to keep the one that makes me look 6months pregnant. I used a heavy duty thread for the top stitching but I won't do that again, it looks a little cartoony to me. Still, the fit is good and I needed jeans desperately. Boy do I look fat in this picture! This is KS 33378 I think, the twist neck top that I have binned every time I've made it. This time it seems to work. This is an incredibly soft rayon jersey from Gorgeous Fabrics.
